Staff

We have a very low staff turnover, a high percentage of staff have been with us for over ten years and some have been with us since the first year of opening. We invest heavily in our staff and employ a high number of qualified nurses.

All our staff do continuous extra training in the home and at various training agencies and departments. The NVQ qualification is now our priority for care assistants. Many staff have obtained NVQ levels 2 & 3 in care and some have gone on to complete full nurse training. We have staff members who are assessors for this. Other care staff have successfully completed palliative care courses, open learning in care of the elderly, courses on computers, food and hygiene, cookery and first aid. We also continue to help with the training of people from university (eg student nurses), colleges and schools.

The majority of the trained nursing staff have other extra qualifications, for example NVQ assessors award, NCFE 730 City & Guilds (teaching certificate) and ENB 931 (Care of the Terminally Ill). Three of the staff management have obtained City & Guilds Care Management (NVQ 4) and several nurses have the Care of the Elderly qualification.
